Welcome to Surviving WomanHood

“No man is an island, but maybe a woman is…”

For fall too long I felt that way. Day after day, I felt increasingly isolated from everyone and everything. For years, I languished in a low-grade depressive funk. Finally, lost and alone, I decided to do a little scouting. It turns out that life is not a deserted island. While the terrain can at times be unpassable, if you are equipped with the proper tools and guidance, almost any goal becomes achievable. If you open your eyes, while you may glimpse the bad, you can also catch sight of the many beautiful things and even people around you every day.

By becoming a more active participant in my own life, things steadily got better. Change was not always easy and it definitely wasn’t fast. I had to take responsibility for my own life and happiness. I had to seek out knowledge. I had to listen to the wisdom of others. I had to be willing to make mistakes. Some days, I just had to smile. There is no one key to success or happiness — only a journey.

With this site, I plan to share a portion of my journey, spotlighting a variety of news and information of interest. Visitors are also encouraged to share any helpful insights.
